Our Story
From a Prayer Meeting to a Home for Orphans
The story of United Hearts Foundation began in a weekly prayer meeting. Pastor Paul Elisah Asamoah noticed a growing number of women bringing children along — many of them orphaned or left in the care of elderly grandmothers, struggling without access to proper shelter, food, or education.
Moved by what he saw, Pastor Paul began supporting these children from his own modest means, enrolling them in school and providing for their basic needs. In 2007, he formally founded the orphanage with just five children from the community.
In those first years, four children slept together on a single mat. Pastor Paul and Martha sold what possessions they could and grew their own maize and yams to keep the children fed, while three meals a day remained a daily struggle.
The foundation grew steadily through the support of donors and volunteers. Between 2013 and 2014, a $20,000 grant from the Wyman Foundation — arranged through a former volunteer — helped complete a new children's center with electricity and running water, along with classrooms for the United Hearts School.
Today, United Hearts Foundation cares for more than 40 children and extends support to vulnerable families throughout Bawjiase and its surrounding communities — a living testament to what compassion, sustained over years, can build.

We partner with Bawjiase Polyclinic to give every child regular medical care, and our finances are independently audited each year — because the community and donors who trust us with these children deserve nothing less than full accountability.

Bawjiase Polyclinic
We partner with Bawjiase Polyclinic to give the children in our care regular health check-ups and access to medical attention when they need it.

Ghana's Auditor General's Department conducts an annual audit of our financial records and donated items, to keep our operations fully transparent and accountable.
